About HOBY South Dakota
If you are unfamiliar with HOBY, each accredited high school in the state of South Dakota is invited
to select at least one sophomore to be the official representative to the HOBY seminar. This year,
high schools may opt to send more than one representative—please contact us for further information. HOBY seminars are held around the world to inspire youth to
become leaders in their families, schools, communities, peer groups, states, etc. The quality of HOBY is noted nationally
through endorsements by several organizations, including: the American Association of School Administrators, the Counci
l of Chief State School Officers, the National Association of Secondary School Principals, the National Parents Teachers
Association, and the National School Boards Association.
See www.hoby.org for
more information.
There is a fee for the Ambassadors to attend the HOBY Seminar, and unfortunately we don’t currently have the resources to cover the costs for selected Ambassadors.
As I’m sure you can appreciate, the execution of programs like this do have a cost for food, housing, supplies, postage, etc. But the price
is truly worth the experience. Please do not let the fees deter you from nominating an Ambassador!
The fee has been covered in many different ways at different locations—paid by the high school, paid
by student activity groups, paid by the family of the selected individual, paid by businesses in the area, etc. We understand that these resources may not be available in your area or at your school, but please let us know if you encounter any difficulties and we will try to help in whatever way we can.
If you have any questions about HOBY, please feel free to contact us.
